This is the perfect tree to plant for a boy!

The wonderfully statuesque, Oriental Black Bamboo (Phyllostachys Nigra), is a rare and unusual plant that will create a fantastic focal point in your garden. It's arching green canes turn lustrous black in their second or third year, while it's abundant glossy leaves remain evergreen.

It forms a clump, but unlike other varieties of bamboo, it isn't invasive and can be grown in a half barrel or very large container. Even though its origins are in China, it's fully hardy and the British winter won't harm it, making a very welcome and unexpected winter treat for visitors to your garden.

This is the ideal tree to plant for a girl!

Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo' is perhaps the most extreme of the variegated Japanese maples. The leaves are sometimes nearly all-white, with merest flecks of green. Sometimes the leaves have much more green with extravagant white markings with (especially in early spring) pink tips & highlights. An extremely young sapling is usually greenleafed without much variegation, but soon after its third year it will become variegated with a vengeance. The ten year height of this small tree can be usually a few feet, though it might in the very long run reach fifteen feet. It can be multi-trunked & rather wide-limbed, hence more of a shrub than a tree, although this depends greatly on how it is trained, since a young developing specimen can be trained with as many or as few trunks as the gardener decides.

This is another perfect tree to plant for a boy!

A rounded, evergreen tree with lance-shaped, dark green leaves and smooth dark grey bark. In June the new, silver-white leaves appear, along with the golden-yellow male catkins, followed in autumn by rounded acorns, either singularly or in bunches. An attractive tree which tolerates salt spray and strong winds, and is often seen planted as a windbreak or along avenues in coast towns. It is in leaf all year, in flower from May to June, and the seeds ripen from September to October. The flowers are monoecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but both sexes can be found on the same plant) and are pollinated by Wind.

This is another perfect tree to plant for a girl!

This tree has been around for millions of years, today this hardy deciduous tree is enjoyed as a landscape plant in many parts of the world. Ginkgo grows slowly to a height of 100 ft (30.5 m), with a width in the range of 20-50 ft (6.1-15.2 m). Male trees tend to grow taller and more upright than the female trees which assume a lower, spreading form. Both exhibit an irregular pattern of branching that is visually appealing. The ginkgo has unique fan-shaped leaves that are 2-3 in (5.1-7.6 cm) long. Leaf veins radiate out from the petiole (leaf stem), and the center of the fan is notched, dividing the leaf into two lobes inspiring the species name biloba.

With a blue tinge this is a perfect tree for a boy!

With its pyramidal shape, soft grayish-green (or blue) needles and drooping branches, this cedar makes a graceful specimen or accent tree. Growing rapidly to 40 to 50 feet tall and 20 to 30 feet wide, it also works well as a soft screen. The trunk stays fairly straight with lateral branches nearly horizontal and drooping. Lower branches should be left on the tree so the true form of the tree can show. Allow plenty of room for these to spread. The tree has been successfully used as a street or median planting with lower branches removed. It appears to tolerate compacted, poor soil but declines in areas where smog is a problem. Plant on 20-foot-centers to create a canopy of blue foliage over a small residential street. This is probably the best true cedar for the South.
